FAQS

  1. What advantages does KITAP offer over KITAS?
  • No annual visa renewals or visa runs
  • Simplified administrative requirements
  • More stable residency and legal certainty
  • Streamlined multiple entry/re-entry without new permits
  1. Can I switch jobs and keep my KITAP?

No. KITAP is employer-specific. Switching sponsors requires cancelling the existing KITAP and applying anew under the new employer.

  1. Can family members join me on KITAP?

Yes. Your legal spouse, children (under 18), and parents may apply for Family KITAP, valid for the same duration as your primary permit.

  1. Can Work KITAP holders open a bank account or apply for NPWP?

Yes. With KITAP and local address registration (SKPPS), you can obtain a Tax Identification Number (NPWP) and a local bank account.

  1. What if my KITAP expires or I leave the country?

KITAP is valid for 5 years; you must renew ahead of expiry. If you remain abroad longer than allowed, the permit may be canceled. Renewal can be repeated indefinitely.

  1. Can I apply for Indonesian citizenship under KITAP?

Possibly. For spouse-sponsored and other eligible categories, foreign nationals may opt for naturalisation after multiple KITAP terms—typically 10 years continuous stay.

  1. What happens if I lose my job or company dissolves?

Your KITAP sponsorship ends. You may need to apply for an Exit Permit Only (EPO) or transfer to a different visa category (e.g. retirement, investor) to remain legally.
