ToggleWhat Is the Dependent KITAS?
The Dependent KITAS (Limited Stay Permit) allows qualifying family members—spouse, unmarried children under 18 (or under 17 per some rules)—to stay in Indonesia under the sponsorship of a foreign visa-holder. The dependent’s KITAS mirrors the duration and status of the primary KITAS.

FAQs
Content:
1. Who are considered dependents?
Your spouse and children under the age of 17.
2. Can my dependent work in Indonesia?
Not automatically. They may later apply for a Working KITAS, but the dependent KITAS itself does not permit employment.
3. What happens to me if my sponsor gets promoted or changes visa type (e.g. to KITAP)?
Your Dependent KITAS will remain valid as long as the sponsor maintains legal immigration status. Extensions or adjustments are possible accordingly.
4. Is it possible to apply from outside Indonesia?
Yes. The process usually begins with a VITAS entry visa, which is converted to KITAS after arrival.
5. What if I overstay the Dependent KITAS?
Overstaying may result in daily fines (up to IDR 1,000,000/day), deportation, and potential blacklisting. Renew or exit before the expiry date.
6. Can dependents get tax ID or local identity registrations?
Yes. Once KITAS is valid, dependents can register for NPWP, KTP-OA (in some cases), open bank accounts, and obtain local mobile numbers.
